Musician Achievement Program (MAP)
CMS - Hastings

Community Music School offers a chance for students to strive for even more excellence on their instruments in the Musicianship Achievement Program (MAP). Overseen by CMS-Hastings instructors Holly Bolthouse and Melissa Risk, MAP runs September through May. Students and teachers work together to outline goals to be reached by the end of the school year. Examples of the goals are: finishing a method or theory book, practicing 30 minutes every day, playing for church or community events, participating in an adjudicated music festival, researching a composer, playing in a recital, learning 5 songs on their own.
MAP allows the music student to be actively involved in his/her musical growth, and offers the student an opportunity to be organized and plan ahead. The students who participated in MAP were able to be independent in their accomplishments giving them a true sense of pride when their goals are achieved. Those who complete their goals are awarded a certificate and a medal.
MAP is open to all area private lessons students, in or out of the Community Music School. Fee of $10 covers a certificate and a medal. Purchase of a theory book is additional.
