Ars Voce ("the vocal art") is an ensemble of 12 singers
performing the a capella music of many centuries, from sacred
classics and madrigals of the Renaissance, to the unique music
of early America, to contemporary expressions, sacred and secular.
Ars Voce has sung to enthusiastic audiences at the Stratford
Festival of Canada, and in England at the Royal Northern College
of Music and the cathedrals of Chester and Winchester. Whether
in performances with the Battle Creek Boychoir or Girls' Chorus,
or engagements of their own, Ars Voce brings a polished and elegant
approach to the vocal art.
Dr. Mark Wells is the director of Ars Voce.
A native of Kentucky, he received his music education at the Universtiy
of Louisville School of Music and the Cincinnati College Conservatory
of Music. A cofounder of Ars Voce in 1999, he also serves the Battle
Creek area as Music Assistant of the Battle Creek Boychoir and
Girls' Chorus, accompanist for the Battle Creek Community Chorus,
keyboardist with the Battle Creek Symphony, and Music Associate
at St. Philip Catholic Church.
